Things to do in Tarrytown

Beyond the hotel room

Tarrytown's signature draws are Sleepy Hollow and the Old Dutch Church burying ground — the heart of Washington Irving's legendary tales — and Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate, and the Gilded Age mansions, showcasing historic wealth and architecture. Lyndhurst, the Gothic Revival mansion on the Hudson offers another iconic estate experience, while the Tarrytown Music Hall and the village shops provide local culture and browsing. The Hudson River waterfront and the RiverWalk offer scenic river paths and water views, and the Old Croton Aqueduct trail provides historic walking and biking. Stone Barns and the farm-to-table country nearby showcase agricultural heritage and farm dining, while New York City a short Metro-North ride south extends access to urban culture and attractions. Spring brings the estates and the RiverWalk reawakening; summer offers riverfront and estate season with easy city access; fall presents the marquee Sleepy Hollow and foliage season — Halloween country; winter brings quieter river-village season with holiday events. Tarrytown rewards visits in every season, from summer riverfront walks to brilliant autumn foliage and peak Sleepy Hollow Halloween season. Seasonal highlights include The Sleepy Hollow Halloween season and the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze (fall), Kykuit and the Gilded Age estate tours (spring–fall), Tarrytown Music Hall concerts and shows (year-round). Tarrytown rewards visits in every season, from green-season hiking and water days to brilliant autumn foliage and quiet, snow-dusted winters. And because Tarrytown sits within easy reach of Nanuet, Beacon, Brooklyn, it works well as a base for wider day trips across the region.

"Traveling for work, I stayed here for 2 separate weeks. Both times my rooms were spacious, very clean and decently decorated. The beds were firm like I like, and the employees very friendly and hospitable. Not many amenities, but I didnt expect any. All in all I would stay here again, and I would recommend."

Tub types, explained

What's the difference between a jacuzzi, whirlpool, and soaking tub?

Jacuzzi

Technically a brand name, but used generically for any jetted tub. In hotel listings, "jacuzzi suite" almost always means a private in-room tub with built-in air or water jets. Heat is usually preset; jets are user-controlled.

Whirlpool

Functionally identical to a jacuzzi — water jets circulate heated water for a massage effect. The term is more common at Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham brands. Most "whirlpool suites" hold two adults comfortably.

Soaking tub

Deeper than a standard bathtub, usually 18–22 inches, but with no jets. Common in boutique and luxury hotels — quieter, more spa-like, and better for a long hot soak than the jet-driven hum of a jacuzzi.

Hot tub

In strict use, a standalone heated tub holding 100°F+ water. In hotel marketing, often used interchangeably with jacuzzi or whirlpool. A genuine in-room "hot tub" with full thermostat control is rare outside cabin-style resorts.

Every listing on this page specifies which type you'll find in the room. We list only properties with the tub in your room — not in a shared pool area or the lobby spa.

Why trust us

Hand-verified. No AI filler.

Every hotel on this page has been personally verified to have a private, in-room hot tub or jacuzzi — not a shared pool tub, not a bathroom soaker, not a spa amenity you have to book. We cross-check three sources for every listing: the hotel's own room photos and descriptions, recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor and Google, and direct confirmation from the hotel where unclear. We don't take payment for placement, and we don't generate listings with AI. If a hotel's tub status changes or a property closes, the page updates the next time we re-verify the city (Dothan was last checked May 2026).
