“Historic charm with friendly staff. The stay felt like you were staying in a nice, cozy bedroom and not a hotel. The bed and the pillows were super comfortable. The Internet was fast. The bathrooms are a little small but it was as expected for the age o the building. There are several shops and restaurants in walking distance. Parking is either on the street or in a city lot behind the hotel. It appeared safe as the police station is now far and we had no issues with our vehicle being left in the public lot. We had an adjoining room for our daughter. She enjoyed the twin room and the privacy. There were waters provided in each room. At breakfast, there was a table in the lobby with “grab and go” items such as muffins, pasteries, granola bars, etc. Check in and out was super easy. “Visiting Mississippi for the first time, and traveled from Kansas to visit my son stationed at Columbus Air Force Base. I chose to drive from Columbus to Starksville to stay at this hotel because of its historic nature. The hotel was renovated in the early 2000s, and some of the fixtures are a little dated, but the rooms are very nice for the price, very clean, and the bed is one of the most comfortable hotel beds, I’ve ever slept in. The hotel itself it’s not huge, but retains much of its historic charm, with high ceilings in the rooms and arched hallways. The staff was super nice and and provided plenty of recommendations for things to do, places to see, etc. I heard wonderful things about beer garden, but did not have time to check it out. “Interesting hotel. It offers little other than the rooms themselves. There is no real breakfast, just pastries in cellophane. (but coffee/ tea available 24hrs). The staff are courteous, helpful and present, all seem to be students. Parking is free and easily accessed on street. The front desk is a bit of an issue. I arrived at check in time, and the doors were locked. There was a number for late night access taped to the door which I had to use to gain access. The rooms vary enormously in size ( see my photo ). The room we stayed in, the Ramsey Executive King, was a decent size, but more run down than it appears on the photo. Importantly from the window there is no outlook, just a tall. building a few feet away. There is little outside light and no view of anything. The bathroom is tiny Historic is one thing; shabby and a little run down is another. This place straddles the line” — clarksdale, 4 stars
