What Guests Are Saying

“We were driving back to Dallas and were looking for a place to stay that was half way there. We decided to go to Laurel because of the HGTV show, and there were not many choices near the downtown. We usually like Holiday Inn Express, so we chose this location. There was a lot of noise as they were renovating rooms near us. The room was OK, and we had the only room with a balcony (overlooking the wild wings). Breakfast was OK, but we found there was really not much to see or do in Laurel, so we decided to leave a day early. We told the hotel we were leaving and they informed us we had to pay the night since it was already about 3pm. We were OK with that an got on our way. We did not notice that we had left our Blissy silk pillowcases on the pillows. The hotel called us and asked us if we had taken their pillows. We said we had not, but that we had left our pillowcases on their pillows, and asked if they could send them to us. They told us they would, and they would charge our card for the delivery. We never did receive the package, and we kind of forgot about it, but would not really recommend this hotel, unless you really have to be in Lauel.” — Glennalan4458, 3 stars

“This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve had in a long time. After traveling all day, we arrived in the evening looking forward to getting settled in and taking a shower. When we got to the room, there were only two towels and two washcloths provided. The soap dispenser in the shower was empty, and there were stains on the shower floor. It looked so unclean that I laid down a hand towel to stand on. Unfortunately, my concerns were confirmed when I found a dirty washcloth left in the tub from a previous guest, along with food still in the refrigerator. The room floor was dirty enough that we kept our shoes on the entire time. At first glance, the beds appeared fine, but in the morning light the sheets looked questionable, with what appeared to be crumbs and dried food particles on them. Since we were only staying two nights and could not get a refund for the second night, we decided to make the best of it and stay. However, after being gone all day, we returned to find that the room had not been serviced and no fresh towels had been left. I had to go to the front desk to request more towels. I was given some towels and washcloths and told additional ones would be brought to the room once they were dry, but that never happened. The breakfast was also very disappointing and well below what I would expect. I chose this hotel based on its positive reviews, which is why this experience was so surprising. I’m really not a picky traveler, and I generally overlook minor issues, but the lack of cleanliness and basic housekeeping made this stay extremely disappointing.” — Elaine R., 1 star

“This hotel is undergoing renovations. The hallway carpets appear very dirty, trim molding is down and overall shabby feeling. Also smells like sewage. Beds were okay - towels are thin and bear minimum. Floors in shower were dirty as was under the sink area. Most expensive holiday inn we stayed at on our cross country trip. Called IHG to complain and they said they had no idea the hotel was doing renovations. Told to call general manager Akash. Finally got him today ( he did not call me as I was told he would). He was belingerant and said that IHG lied to me since they have to approve a hotel to undergo renovations. Said he has signs up but NOT LISTED on website so too late to cancel when you pull up. Manager was very nasty and NO help. Told me it was up to IHG to refund my money not them. IHG says it is out of their control they don’t own the hotels. AUGHHH!! Poor custom service all around. DO NOT GO HERE” — Robin M., 1 star
