“We have been staying at the Abellona for almost 30 years. In the last few years ownership changed and while we were sad to see the longtime owners retire, the current owners have overseen a beautiful transformation of the property. The rooms are very nice, the beds comfortable, and the common spaces and decks are beautiful. The location of the hotel is unbeatable. Just steps to the sandy shores, and only a 5-10 minute walk downtown. Close enough to be there, but far enough away to be quiet and tranquil. We have stayed in both oceanfront and shore side rooms, and no matter your budget you will be comfortable. “I wish I could rate this 20 out of 5. After my girlfriend and I had some pretty crappy experiences in recent weeks, with lodging in general, especially when looking for a place with a hot tub, we found this one, and immediately booked it! We booked a room with a hot tub (which did NOT disappoint), however, our ONLY complaints about the room were that the beds could use a little more support (if I recall correctly, it was a rudimentary structure which slid when one sat on it from an angle) and different mattresses, and we really struggled getting a WiFi signal, for more than 10 seconds. I chalked this up to an opportunity to unplug, but it was still very irritating! Upon checkout, the staff was very genuine and said they’d look into it. We knew it was a sacrifice to have a jacuzzi room (which was lower level) than to have an oceanfront room (and by oceanfront I mean, less than 20 steps to the shoreline! AMAZING?) Needless to say, we hope there will be MANY, MANY more visits to this amazing destination, regardless of which room we are in! Big note, folks: I’m sure the rest of the lodging on this street have their perks, but this one blows them all out of the water (no pun intended)! I even inquired about peak-season rates, and I was delightfully surprised to hear the rates don’t even go up a significant amount, and are worth every penny! “This was our second time staying at the Abellona and once again it was a very enjoyable experience. Our 2 queen bed oceanfront kitchenette room was spotlessly clean and well equipped for making quick meals. • Hot-tub rooms are lower-level (not oceanfront) — you sacrifice the view for the tub
• Some beds run soft or basic, and a few rooms had flimsy frames
• Wi-Fi signal can be weak in spots
