About The Hotel

Tucked in the heart of Chicago, this hotel offers a secret weapon for weary travelers: in-room hot tubs that feel like a private spa retreat. Not every room has a Jacuzzi, so when booking, specifically request a whirlpool suite. These tubs are perfect for soothing tired muscles after walking Michigan Avenue or exploring downtown.

Guests really like this place, ranking it #87 out of 244 Chicago hotels on TripAdvisor with a solid 4.1 rating. The rooms with hot tubs are typically larger suites, giving you extra space to spread out and truly relax. Each tub is generously sized, with strong jets that can work out knots from a day of sightseeing or business meetings.

The hotel’s location makes it easy to explore Chicago, with amenities like room service, WiFi, and a restaurant on-site. But the real star is that in-room hot tub. After a long day, you can sink into warm bubbling water, looking out over the city skyline. It’s like having a personal wellness center right in your room - no need to walk to a shared spa or pool. For travelers who want privacy and pure relaxation, this is your Chicago home base.

"I came here over the weekend for a staycation to celebrate my 33rd birthday. The staff at The Drake could not be better! Everyone is so nice and accommodating. I got upgraded to a bigger and better room for the weekend which was fantastic. The one evening after dinner I asked about room service and was wondering if they did full service or not because I wanted to order it on my actual birthday. The front desk employee asked for my room number and nicely gave me a credit to use for breakfast to be delivered the next day. The valet person at the entrance of the hotel was also very sweet as I left the hotel early evening to go back to the suburbs when I noticed I didn’t have my house keys. So I had to uber back downtown where housekeeping found and returned them. When I told the valet guy my story after he saw me all weekend, he was so polite and generous to pay for my next uber ride home. The service here is just top notch! The hotel might be older, but it’s so nostalgic especially during the holidays. This might be a new tradition. Thank you for making my birthday so special. :)"

"Overall, The Drake Hotel offered a very nice and luxurious experience. The property is exceptionally clean and well maintained, and the staff were consistently friendly and attentive to every need. It’s important to note that parts of the hotel intentionally retain their historic charm. The rooms and furniture have an older style, which is part of the Drake’s character and appeal, but those expecting a modern or contemporary aesthetic may find it a bit dated. The location is excellent—close to plenty of attractions, shopping, and restaurants. The only minor inconvenience was the elevator system, which required scanning your room key after certain hours and at times seemed to limit access to specific floors when multiple guests were inside. All in all, it was a great stay in a classic Chicago landmark. Perfect for travelers who appreciate history, elegance, and great service."

"Had an incredible dining experience, catching up with a good friend. The Coq d'Or had wonderful ambience. We ordered the hummus starter with an incredible credit and the Beef bourguignon. Incredible flavor and great portion sizes for each. Our server was Christina and she was a treat! Her service was kind and warm and from seasonal cocktails to entrees she great knowledge of the menu made helped us with wonderful recommendations."
